Superb hospitality in the heart of leafy Constantia
Comments made by Opheera M, UK

"We were a very large family group staying in this beautiful villa surrounded by the most amazing views you can imagine. Groot Constantia is a central location to explore all the extractions to explore all of the attractions in the environs of Cape Town. Our hosts treated us like family, catered to our every need and even the most unusual of inquiries were seen to. The shops of the village were so close and we were a short drive from the penguins of Simonstown and the beaches of Hout Bay and Noordhoek. A home away from home – a place we could all agree we would like to visit again and again. Thank you to Dennis and Elizabeth for everything!"

"Our family stayed in this villa for 10 nights over the New Year period, and to be honest I don’t see how anyone could want for a better base when staying in Cape Town. Owner Dennis sets the tone from the moment you arrive – a warm and friendly welcome, comprehensive tour of the property and its facilities, and wonderful cake! The villa itself had everything we needed – clean, comfortable and spacious, with well equipped kitchen, easy to operate TV and music system, fabulous pool and great outdoor area. Everyone in our group – from age 50 to 6 – was catered for, and nothing is too much trouble for the team who bends over backwards to make sure you enjoy your stay. The villa is also really well located – a short car ride to Constantia Village for shopping and more dining options. We did stay at the villa and braai a lot! The waterfront, Hout Bay and other beaches also within easy reach. We have rented properties in Cape Town before – usually in Camps Bay – But this villa without a doubt the best of the lot. We would not hesitate to return (we didn’t want to leave!) and would thoroughly recommend for a fabulous holiday."

"Excellent welcome! Personal and warm: homemade delicious cake, fresh flowers and gorgeous bottle of wine from the neighbouring vineyard! Cannot think of a better start to our visit to Cape Town. Dennis, his wife and the staff did everything possible to make our stay fantastic! Dennis personally gave us a tour of the fine, extensive lodgings, explaining all that we need explaining and was available 24/7 (via telephone and through communication with the wonderful staff) to answer any questions and provide assistance. The location is perfect! Close to shops and fine restaurants, the open top bus route is just up the road; the highways are a couple of minutes away as well for a quick commute anywhere. I am incredibly fussy when it comes to cleanliness and could not find fault! The kitchen is amply equipped to prepare and cook meals for a large number of people. My family range from old to young and it fitted everyone just fine! Thank you Dennis, Liz, Vanessa and Blessings! We had a truly wonderful time and will be back next year!"

"So nice to meet an owner who really cares about his guests experience. Lovely welcome that included a home made cake! Great location, access to Groot Constansia vineyard and only a short drive to the beach, Table mountain and the city of Cape Town. Thank you Dennis."

"We had the most fantastic week at this beautiful villa. We were 9 people and the Villa has 5 Superb bedrooms with very comfortable beds and lovely linen. All bedrooms a very well equipped. The Villa has a great entertainment area with an awesome pizza oven which we so enjoyed!! The kitchen is one of the most equipped ones that we have ever had the pleasure of being in. We had great fun with the pool table. There is nothing that this house doesn't have, including direct access to the lovely vineyards of Groot constantia. The cleaning staff are very helpful and very discreet making our stay very comfortable. The hosts themselves are so warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble with added touches like amazing home baked lemon cake and wine tasting/tour vouchers from them. They have also just updated all of the decor of this lovely villa. Thank you so much Dennis and your lovely wife- we loved it!!"

Wonderful villa

"Staying in August 2016 and really enjoyed the size, ambience, tasteful decor and overall luxury of the villa. Dennis could not have been more helpful and the service from the staff was outstanding. Did not have the best of weather but the underfloor heating and log fire kept us warm. Only suggestion...a heated pool would mean that we could use it ratether than just look. Thoroughly recommended."

"I'd been corresponding with Dennis, the owner of the property, for about 9 months and found him extremely helpful and quick with his replies. That's always a great start. When we arrived we were all bowled over by the attention to detail of Dennis and his wonderful staff who run the house. They couldn't do enough to help us with anything we needed but also leaving us to enjoy the house in peace. What can I say about the house ... it's stunning and is, in my opinion, in the best location possible. Where else are you given a key to let yourself into the vineyards of the oldest wine estate in the country? Here you can walk through the vines for wine tasting and wonderful restaurants. The pool, the garden, the braai area where all fantastic and the interior of the house was very spacious, light and bright. The security was first class and we all felt completely safe and secure there. Dennis and Elizabeth, thanks you so much for making such a wonderful base for us while on our Cape Town adventure! If you can book this house, don't hesitate. We will be back :-) Dave, Frances, Tracey, Dean and Claudette"

Lovely villa in a great location

"There were 7 of us staying at the villa and there was plenty of room for so many more. It was beautiful and so clean and well looked after by all of the charming, helpful and amazing staff. Dennis, the owner was helpful too, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We spent most of our time outside however, enjoying the pool and braai area and drinking in the magnificent views of the mountains. Obviously, the villa is situated in the famous Groot Constantia vineyards, but the location is so much more than this. Close to Cape Town, to beaches, great shopping, great food, penguins, birds, wildlife, wonderful walks, beautiful national parks, more penguins (we love penguins). The location is very quiet too and we felt so safe and well looked after. Highly recommended!"

Perfect stay in wonderful villa

"We stayed in the Groot Constantia Villa for a week with 8 adults and one toddler. The villa was perfect for us: it had everything we could wish with excellent facilities (including a private pool, sunbeds, bbq, wifi) and is situated in a beautiful area right next to the Great Constantia wineries. The house is very large and luxurious (easily sleeps 10 adults), and cleaned daily by the friendly staff. Dennis (the owner) gave us a lot of tips and was very helpful. When we said we were bringing a 1 year old he bought a cot and toddler dining chair. We highly recommend this villa!"

All you could wish for

"We stayed here for seven nights. We were warmly welcomed by Dennis and introduced to Magdalena and the other staff, were shown round and given useful local information. The famous lemon drizzle cake awaited us and was delicious. The house is beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. Certainly some of the furnishings and fittings are twenty years old, but everything worked and all were excellent quality and tasteful. The kitchen had every device you could wish for, and the master bedroom and bathroom were fabulous. The villa is in a beautiful and safe location, with very private garden and pool, and lovely views from all the balconies.. The staff were friendly and efficient. There are so many good restaurants nearby, particularly at some of the vineyards and excellent shops at Constantia Village. We couldn't have asked for more."

Wonderful stay

"Having lived in Cape Town a number of years ago, I knew that when I was bringing family with us from the UK that I wanted to stay in Constantia. We looked at many options before settling on Groot Constantia Villa, not least for its location (bordering on Groot Constantia wine farm). The house itself was ideal for our purposes, 5 bedrooms and numerous rooms that allowed for privacy when required. Some of the decor was a bit dated and the television wasn't quite the quality that the family were used to. That said, we did not come to SA to watch tele! The staff at the house were superb and Dennis was a very generous host, not to mention his wife's lovely lemon drizzle cake. I would not hesitate to come back to this property, and I know my father-in-law particularly enjoyed walking through the vineyards."

Lovely Constantia Villa

"An excellent, comfortable villa in a wonderful setting. Well equipped, with plenty of space, inside and out, this is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy Cape Town. The facilities are excellent and there are good shops nearby if needed, but also with easy access to see all the sights. The house was perfect for a range of age groups, with enough space and activites for everyone(pool, sunbeds, large garden, pizza oven, pool table, music system etc). Well serviced by lovely staff who were polite, helpful and eager to please. Highly recommended – wish we could comeback every year!"

"Constantia is a leafy suburb in Cape Town. Nova Constantia is the upmarket area full of the most beautiful large houses of which Groot Constantia Villa is one. The house is large, luxurious, very well equipped and immaculately clean. It is on the edge of Groot Constantia vineyard which you can freely access and the area is quite and peaceful. Dennis (the owner) and his wife Liz, who live next door are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We thourghly recocomend this villa. Terry and Rose"

"Our family of eight, covering three generations with the youngest grandchild being 18 years old stayed at Groot Constantia Villa for two weeks from the 27th July to the 10th August 2014.The superb location of the villa on the edge of the Groot Constantia Wine Estate made it an ideal location with shopping, restaurants and Peddlars on the Bend within a short drive. It is also very easy to get to the seaside at Hout Bay and Camps Bay with Cape Town just around the corner. A walk through the vineyards to visit the Groot Constantia Wine Estate for the wine tasting followed by a meal sat outside the Jonkershuis Restaurant in the sunshine is a must.Facilities in this magnificent villa are second to non with everything you might need to make your holiday one to remember with the outside eating area around the braai and the pizza oven being especially enjoyable. The pool table was a great hit with our two grandsons and we must congratulate Dennis and Liz on the quality of the welcome pack which includes Liz's famous lemon drizzle cake."

Awesome Location / House / Customer Service

"From the moment of stepping into this well kept, clean and tidy and well decorated mansion (calling it a villa by European standards is laughable - Its MASSIVE) , we needed for nothing. Dennis greeted us with a cake his wife had baked, and handed over his contact details if we needed anything. Suffice to say he had thought of absolutely everything, and we never needed to call him, although he made sure to check in with us at various points. Tons of bedding, towels, and ALL the bits you expect from cutlery to pizza oven spades. The villa was serviced daily by two employees! He lives right next door (in the next house) and actively manages the property. The house was defnitely a home away from home, and we enjoyed using the pool, pizza oven and BBQ area. Not to mention the late night pool table sessions! We would happily go back (in a heartbeat) and recommend to anyone! Dennis also had arranged wine tours for the wine estate next door - a very nice touch!"

Stunning villa in an equally stunning location

"We were looking for something special for our last 2+ weeks in South Africa, and were not disappointed. On arrival, the owners had baked us a superb lemon drizzle cake, which was very welcoming. We had our own private gateway to the Groot Contantia vineyard, and used this most evenings for a pleasant walk and to go wine tasting. The villa was stunning, with everything we could ask for. The owners were on hand to offer information if and when required. We felt safe, comfortable, and enjoyed the luxury of the villa. The pool, the pizza oven, the rooms - everything was fantastic. We hope to return soon - perhaps for longer next time."

"Already the reception by the owners was perfect. The house is in immaculate condition and nothing is missing. It begins with a top-equipped kitchen, goes beyond the common room with pool table. The outdoor area with beautiful garden, pool and barbecue area perfect for scenic evenings with friends and family. The stunning location on the edge of the vineyards and the central location to shopping and leisure facilities will make your stay an unforgettable experience."

Our temporary paradise

"We were a party of four, my husband, adult son and young daughter, who stayed at this beautiful villa in Oct/Nov 2011 for 2 weeks. Dennis and Elizabeth were great landlords always on call without being intrusive and Agnes and Anton keep everything clean and ship-shape. The decor is very eighties but all clearly top of the range and in good working order. The beds were comfy and the house and garden felt like our own paradise, an excellent, secure base from which to explore the beauty of the city and surrounds. I hope it won't be another 15 years before we return again and may Groot Contantia Villa and it's team still be available when we do."

"This a high-end luxury home with loads of room and amenities (includin a safe and wifi and complete litchen). Very safe and secure. The service was excellent including the owner helping with emergencies (dead car battery) and housekeeper doing dishes and laundry. The location is incredible in a nice neighborhood bordering a famous vineyard. Stunning views from windows and balconies. Outdoor area with pool and dining area was used several times. Access to vineyard grounds and a short (5-10 mins) walk to awesome restaurants, coffee shop, grocery, wine tasting and museum. This may sound too good but that is what it is. Four adults and teenagers had a perfect week here."

"Dennis greeted us on our arrival and showed us around the house and explained everything to us. He was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The house has everything you could possibly want and more. The location and views are spectacular. We were 4 adults and 4 teenagers and the house provided us with an opportunity to relax and enjoy the area. The local winery provided a great place to walk and enjoy great wine and food. The easy access from the airport, to downtown Cape Town as well as all the tourist areas we had on our list to visit made this a perfect location. The value was supurb!!"

Excellent family accommodation in perfect location

"We had two families staying together and this house was perfect. Large rooms and plenty of space. Direct access into the vineyards is a huge plus. The pizza oven was a big hit with the kids and made mealtimes a breeze. It's a huge help to have the hosts living on the adjoining property as all our requests were met within minutes."

"Our family of 8 people ranging between the ages of 9 and 76 stayed at Groot Constantia Villa for 2 weeks in December 2016. On our arrival, we were greeted by Dennis who gave us a tour of the house and provided us with all the information we needed to ensure we had a safe and comfortable stay. The house itself is amazing, and we didn't want for anything. We spend most of our time at the house around the pool and in the entertainment area. The kitchen is very well equipped, although most of our cooking was done outside in the braai area. The beds are all very comfortable and the bed linen was changed regularly by the hardworking and attentive staff. We visited the Groot Constantia Vineyard several times and also enjoyed taking walks to the bars and restaurants a short walk away. The Constantia Village is nearby with a Woolworths Food, Pick n Pay, Clicks, etc. Constantia itself is very central and within easy access to the amazing attractions Cape Town has to offer.I would like to give a special mention to Magdalena, our lovely housekeeper. She worked very hard making sure the house was kept clean, bed linen changed and she always had a smile on her face. She is so warm and friendly and I really enjoyed our chats in the kitchen. She always made me laugh and I grew very fond of her.It was very hard to leave the beautiful villa on our return to the UK and I miss Cape Town terribly. We are already planning our next trip and will certainly try to stay at the Groot Constantia Villa again in the future."

A beautiful house with friendly hosts and staff!!

"The house is just as good if not better than described. We had a wonderful holiday in this holiday with 10 people. Constantia was the best part of Cape Town and all the attractions for us as well as Cape Town itself are from there easily accessible by car. The owners are always on hand when questions or help is needed. The employees of Dennis spoil a way they can and they are all lovely. There was simply nothing we could find fault in this "Holiday Palace". The house is very specious and also with 10 adults for enough space. The outdoor area is beautiful, well maintained and large. The terrace with barbeque and pizza oven is awesome. We really enjoyed the stay there and will definitely not be the last time been there."

"We had a fantastic time! The location is very convenient for Constantia Village, and right next to Groot Constantia – a nice walk to the wine tasting! Dennis and Elizabeth couldn't have been nicer and made us feel very welcome. The house is very secure even staying by myself with the kids after my husband went home. The housekeepers were very pleasant and everything was spotless. We definitely want to visit again and can thoroughly recommend this accommodation!"

Great location – very comfortable
Comments made by Carol B. UK

"We have rented this house for 4 years and love it. It is a little different, but is spacious and comfortable, if a little old fashioned, and is perfect for guests. It has spectacular views, but is very close to Constantia Village – an excellent shopping mall. It is not in a secure compound, but we have never had a moments anxiety about security. Dennis and Liz the owners are the landlords from heaven and are always on hand to fix any problem. We would thoroughly recommend it."

Superbly located
Comments made by Stephanie H. UK

"Superbly located for walks through the vineyards to friendly local restaurants. Dennis and Liz were very kind and gracious hosts, we were touched by their thoughtfulness, Liz baking us an irresistible lemon cake and Dennis promising a printer in the study and a television in the sitting room by our next visit. Yes, we immediately rebooked for next year. Our only disappointment with the property was the pool, which was not really designed for swimming, just for hanging out. No rental property will ever be perfect, this one came close."
